Overview
The floor is sanded back to barewood, removing 0.7mm of the top layer. This gets rid of any deep scratches or dents. This is done using Bona Sanding Machines, abrasives and dust containment systems to achieve a perfectly level floor. Once sanding is completed, the floor is coated with Bona finishes or oils for protection and aesthetic compatibility.
How it Works
Step 1: Coarse Sanding
This stage involves using low-grit abrasives to remove old finishes, stains, and surface imperfections. It prepares the floor for subsequent sanding stages by leveling the surface and exposing the raw wood underneath.Step 2: Fine Sanding and Gap Filling
In this step we use Bona's fine abrasives to remove the scratches left by the coarse sanding. The fine sanding dust is then made into a paste to fill any gaps.Step 3: Stain or Coloured Oil Application (Optional)
Full sanding and recoating brings with it the opportunity to change the tone of your wooden floor. In this optional step we provide you with the opportunity to change the appearance of your floor. Step 4: Finish Application
The final step is the application of the finish chosen by you. If you would like an oiled floor, 2 coats of Bona Craft Oil 2k will be applied. If the finish chosen is lacquered, we will apply one coat of primer followed by 2 coats of Bona Top Coat.Full renovation includes sanding to bare wood and retreating with finish.
